S.E. Corner Fourth and Walnut Streets,
(ENTRANCE ON FOURTH STREET,)
Cincinnati, May 21 1873

Major A.P. Howe, 4th Artillery U.S.A.

Sir:
John Taylor, colored, who formerly lived with me, has been notified through me that his claim for bounty will be paid [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] by you, & that you will notify him when & where to appear &c.

John Taylor is now in the far West & has been writing to me about his claim. It will be impossible for him to appear personally to get it. How can the matter be arranged? I should like to know before writing to him.

Respectfully
C.E. Callahan
