Sir,
A communication dated March 4, 1872 from the office of the Hon E.B. French 2nd Auditor of the Treasury notifies me that certificate no. 588626 for $217.44/100 payable to me as mother of Walker Banion late a private in Co A 45" regiment U.S.C>L had been forwarded to the Freedmens Bureau that day that said claim had been allowed OC.OC.OC. since which time I have never heard of the claim or my money. I am informed that such matters are now in the hands of the department of was settlement, can you inform me whether my claim has been sent to the Disbursing Officer for payment or not? I am, sir, very reluctantly
