Special Attention given to the
COLLECTION OF CLAIMS OF Any KIND AGAINST THE UNITED STATES.
Paducah, Ky., June 2nd 1873.

Brvt. Maj. Gen’l A. P Howe, U. S. A.
Disbursing Officer &c.

Sir:
Julia Ann Mitchell, widow of James Mitchell of Co. "D" 4th US Col. Art. Hy. has shown me your letter addressed to her under date of the 24th ult., I am the attorney of record in her bounty claim, and believe there is sufficient evidence on file in the Second Auditor's office to cause its settlement in her favor. If there is not, the evidence is on file in Office of the Hon. Commissioner of Pensions.

Neither of the above named officers have addressed me, calling for further evidence in the cases. The pension was allowed in Dec. 1867. and has been suspended, I believe in '70, because of the appearance of another woman, named Phillis, claiming to be the widow of the same soldier.

The Bounty claim has been, alas, suspended for same reason. Since the suspension evidence has been submitted by Julia Ann, of her marriage
