Referring to the claim of George Washington, late private Co G. 46th U.S.C.T. sent to you this day, I have to inform you that under date of July 21. 1874, Mr U.H. Rogers of Helena, Ark, (the Attorney-of-record in the claim) addressed a Letter to this office inquiring relative to the claim of Mary, widow of George Washington, G. 46th U.S.C.T. thereby implying that the soldier had died. In reply he was informed that in order to action in the matter he should, if the soldier had died, furnish this office with evidence of such fact. Nothing has since been received
