Under date of November 9. 1877 a letter was addressed to this office by S.J. Clark of Helena, Ark., which he states was written at the request of the soldier, who informed him that he had been sick, and had not looked after his claim. Gives the soldier's address as Poplar Grove, Phillips Co. Ark. and requests payment, &c. Said letter is the basis of the action of this office in sending the claim to you for payment, and is herewith enclosed for your more complete information. 
In view of the facts as stated it is deemed proper to enjoin upon you the importance of extreme care in determining the question of identity.
