Benjamin Franklin, "K" Co., 27th Regt. U.S.C. Troops was born in Harrison Co Ky, was enlisted the 1st August, 1864, at Ripley Ohio, by Capt J K Marlay, and was mustered in the 6th day of August, 1864, at Camp Delaware Ohio, by Capt H. Douglass for three years. At the time of enlistment he was twenty one years old, and 5 feet 9½ inches in height. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 22nd day of July, 1865, at Wilmington N.C.; 1st Lt  Wm. C. Dunkharst was commanding officer, and Ila Houston First Sergeant at time of soldiers death. The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about same time and place: Robert Fox, enlisted 2nd day of August, 1864, and Robert Martin Privates enlisted 1st day of August, 1864.
