Steel George Private, "I" Co., 115th Regt. U.S.C.T. was born in Christian Co. Kentucky, was enlisted the 4th day of October, 1864, at Bowling Green Ky, by Captain A. Hobson and was mustered in the 4th day of October, 1864, at Bowling Green Ky, by Capt. A. Hobson, for Three years. At the time of enlistment he was Eighteen years old and 5 feet 6½ inches in height. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 5th day of June 1865, at Fort Monroe Va. Capt Dwight H. Kelton was commanding officer, and Henry Tirm First Sergeant at time of soldiers Death. The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about same time and place: Sherrill George enlisted 4" day of October, 1864, and Ray James enlisted 4th day of October, 1864.

He was a Slave to Hiram Steel. Christian Co. Ky. Joined Co at Original organization. Reported Sick in Hospital at Lexington Ky since January 1st 1865. Sick in Divisional Hospital, Petersburg Va April 27, 65. Died in U.S.C. Gen. Hospital at Fortress Monroe Va. June 5th 1865. Black Eyes. Black Hair. Black Complexion. Farmer.
