Ben Slaughter Pvt, "H" Co., 8” Regt. U.S.C.A(Ky)
was born in Culpepper Virginia, was enlisted the 28 day of May, 1864, at Union Co Ky, by W. I. .Chase, and was mustered in the 6 day of June, 1864, at Paducah Ky, by Lt D.C. Mc Ivor, for 3 years.
At the time of enlistment he was 36 years old, and 5 feet 5 1/2 inches in height. He was[[strikethrough]] discharged (or [[/strikethrough]]  died) 22 day of May, 1865, at Field Hosp 25th. A.C.; Capt .H.B. Norton was commanding officer, and Wash Lee First Sergeant at time of soldiers death. The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about same time and place: Sam Harris enlisted 28 day of May, 1864, and William H. Pleasants enlisted 28 day of May, 1864.
