Amos Alspaw Pvt., "G" Co., 40th Regt. U.S.C. Troops was born in Carol Co North Carolina, was enlisted the 26 day of April, 1865, at Greenville Tenn, by Lt. Geo. B. Lods, and was mustered in the 26 day of April, 1865, at Greenville Tenn, by Lt. W. H. Barrett, for 3 years. At the time of enlistment he was 18 years old, and 5 feet 6 inches in height. He [[crossed out]] was discharged or [[/crossed out]] died 25 day of may, 1865, at Greenville Tenn; 1st. Lt. Geo. B. Lods was commanding officer, [[crossed out]] and [[/crossed out]] no noncommissioned Officers [[crossed out]] First Sergeant [[/crossed out]] at time of soldiers death. The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about same time and place: James Canley enlisted 26 day of April, 1865, and Oliver Foster enlisted 26 day of April, 1865.
