Henry Simms, Private Co., "D," 51st Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in Washington Co., Georgia, was enlisted the 18th day of July, 1863, at Canton, Miss., by Maj. J. E. Bryant, and was mustered in the 28th day of July, 1863, at Milliken's Bend, La, by Capt. Ferguson, for 3 years.
At the time of enlistment he was 36 years old, and 5 feet 8 1/2 inches high, Mulatto complexion, Hazel eyes, Black hair, and by occupation a Wagoner. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 6th day of June, 1864, at Goodrich's Landing, La. Capt. Asa B. Munn was commanding officer, and Josiah Knodle first sergeant at time of soldier's death. [[strikethrough]] The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about the same time and place:   enlisted   day of   186 , and   enlisted   day of   186 .
