NARA 1040 (FORM 24.) Daniel Hayes Private Co., "D", 52nd Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in Granville Co., N.C., was enlisted the 12th day of March, 1864, at Vicksburg, Miss by Capt. James, was mustered in the 30th day of March, 1864, at Vicksburg, Miss., by Capt. W. C. Ide, for 3 years. At the time of enlistment he was 35 years old, and 5 feet 4 inches high, Black complexion, Black eyes, Black hair, and by occupation a Farmer. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 7th day of March, 1866, at Meridian, Miss. 1st Lt. C. W. Holland was commanding officer, and Alexander Barnard first sergeant at time of soldier's death. [[strikethrough]] The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about the same time and place: enlisted day of 186 , and enlisted day of 186 .
