NARA1092 (FORM 24.) David Hicks, Private Co., "B", 5th Reg't U.S.C. Cav. was born Woodford Co., Ky., was enlisted the 17th day of August, 1864, at Lexington, Ky, by Thos. H. Moore, and was mustered in the 20 day of August, 1864, at Lexington, Ky, by Thos. H. Moore, for 3 years. At the time of enlistment he was 25 years old, and 5 fee 8 inches high, Black complexion, Black eyes, Black hair, by occupation a Laborer. He died 2nd day October, 1864, at Saltville, Va. Capt. Chas T. Grear was commanding officer, and Robert Mack first sergeant at time of soldier's death.
