George Best, Private Co., "K," 114th, Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in Mercer, Kentucky, was enlisted the 4th day of June, 1864, at Camp Nelson, Ky, by Col. Sedgwick, and was mustered in the 15th day of June, 1864, at Camp Nelson, Ky., by Col. Sedgwick, for 3 years.
At the time of enlistment he was 22 years old, and 5 feet 11 inches high, Black complexion, Black eyes, Black hair, and by occupation a Farmer. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[strikethrough]] died) 1st day of March, 1967, at Ringgold Barracks, Texas. Capt. G. N. Phelps was commanding officer, and Henry Magwood first sergeant at time of soldier's death. [[strikethrough]] The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about the same time and place:   enlisted   day of   186 , and   enlisted   day of   186 .
