The following is a list of Six of the most intelligent of the Freedmen residing in Nansemond Co, who are respected by the Whites, and have an influence over their own people. 
1. David M. Lee Free born
2. Dempsey Hare Free born
3. Alfred Atkins Free born
4. Isaih Smith Freedman
5. Johnson Gary Freedman
6. Boston Byrant 

The Post office address of all of the above named is Suffolk, Va. 
The list of names from Isle of Wight County has not yet been obtained, it being very difficult to get the names of reliable men who are not, what might be termed still Rebels, As soon as I can get the names of six good men in Isle of Wight County, they will be forwarded without delay,
