Respectfully returned Mrs Ferris states that she received no Order From Col. Johnson, but that a Colored man called and said that he wanted Sallie, that her mother had sent him for her, and that he was from Washington, that when Sallie heard that he was after her she ran and hid herself saying that she would not go with him, that she has raised the child in her own house since she was nine months of age. The child is now ten years old, and thinks that if the child is now taken from her the mother should pay her for the trouble she has had with her or that the child should be allowed to remain with her until she is able to repay her, that if the child is left with her she will be well cared for and educated, that she is very much attached to her and does not wish to give her up.
