Respectfully returned, with the information that Morten Gaines (c) is perfectly willing and able to support his Niece Mary Elizabeth who is now in Ga. His sister Mary is now living with him, it is her daughter M.E. - that is now in Ga, I respectfully request that transportation be furnished from Lexington Ga. to Fredericksburg Va, by R.R. and from Fredericksburg to Tappahannock Va by steamboat.

Respectfully returned to Genl Scott with the information that the children within mentioned are now living in York. County District about ten miles from Rock. Hill. George & Cornelius are living with C. J. Pride. and James is living with Wm Daniels  they are all well cared for at present. I would hardly think that it would be advisable to furnish them with transportation for the following reasons, they are all quite young and enable to read or write and it is doubtful in my mind whether they would reach their homes even if the Bureau would furnish them with transportation.
