I have the honor to state, that of the claims sent me at Natchez Miss, I had previous to my leaving that city investigated and satisfied myself of the identity of between twenty and thirty claimants. In view of this fact and of the removal of the suspension of payments I have respectfully to request instructions, whether I shall notify claimants whom I am ready to pay, to come here for payment, or whether it is contemplated that they shall be paid by me at Natchez, Miss

Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of communication of General Jeremiah Corcoran inquiring relative to a claim on account of service of John Corcoran. (deceased). late of Co E 6th U.S.C.H. Arty. referred to me from your office January 18, 1873 with remark that "Funds to pay the claimant mentioned within were sent to you (me) 20 day of Dec 1872."
Referring to this remark I have respectfully to state that the only funds received by me was the sum of $8085.19 sent me Oct 18/72, received by me at Natchez Miss, Oct 28/72 receipt of which was acknowledged by letter to your office on that date, as was also the receipt of 48 claims sent and received on the dates given above, and in which Corcoran's claim was not included.
