BRAHMINS.

The whole have adopted the modern Hindoo dress - the turban, tunic, &c. - bound and sewn after the Mahomedan fashion. This, in other parts of India, though it might be worn on duty or during service, would be considered impure while reading a sacred book; and the difference between the ancient dress and the modern, will, perhaps, be exemplified in these illustrations, when many other peculiarities of Brahmin sects and life may be hereafter explained.
