[[underlined]]Observation[[/underlined]] It is absolutely necessary to have a [[underlined in yellow]]perfectly white oil[[/underlined]] ground of the best Cremnitz white + flat zinc white finish in order to waste no time with madly painting white or a grey oil ground; to paint on such white ground thin luminous oil color a la prima. to make use of the white ground, which the oil does not darken, as lights & white between color. The laborious way to put on a grey ground first white and keep the drawing intact is a waste of time. On a white oil ground one may very thinly sketch out in
