#2 [[?]]
The color [[?]] effect of the picture and use it to correct the final painting.
The excessive moisture of the air of the last few rainy days seems to have caused one canvas to relax and almost hang. All glycerinous water color pans show the weather effect. Hence all glue is undurable, also all glued thick papers, panels, tempera painting; all veneered furniture imported here from Europe suffers. (?) from the climate. In this light, Bloxs advice to use [[yellow underline]] only oilground [[/yellow underline]] instead of [[yellow underline]] glued chalkground,[[/yellow underline]] is strongly supported by Toch's similar advice and demonstration; [[strikeout]] especially if [[/strikeout]] However the durability of beautiful flowing color demands the thinnest layer of oil color and varnish, under glass, on a non oil luminous white & permanent ground which can be used to paint in oil absolutely precise, 'prima', and without any correction, and thin. In that way all below the final oil paint namely ground, underpainting, corrections have no oil and will not yellow.--
The underpainting in white (whitish blue and some yellow in the white, in order to separate the patches at the drawing) is very instructive
