If [[strikethrough]] proceeds [[/strikethrough]] starts from a motif (=melodie)(, here from this scene at this hour & light), proceeds, however, on a colouristic course, varying the motif (by changing the colors of it, and finishes with a general new complete harmony of all these procedures (various beautiful parts of the picture) (musical harmony of a melody developped in composition.).
In this way [[underline]] the specific color combination [[/underline]] (theme, melody i.e. a set and limited number of pure colors by hue & tone, not one, not two; three suffice, 4,5,6 may convene) is [[underline]] the idea of the painting [[/underline]] and is to be harmoniously conducted thro' all its parts with varying but related effects made possible by the scale of tones (light) or scale of hue, in which the very colors are able to move (paint of course much more limited than natures color) and vary. That is rarely seen in nature which exhibits only general motif of short duration to the artists eye; and is a task for his imagination and skill.
