Painted in mussini Cremnitz the lit parts, + new blue the shadow parts adding aurora cadm to Light; sp. red, cerul; vir, cob viol to indicate local color. The underpainting thus gives a good suggestive effect and enables one to judge of the distribution of large masses; where the strongest light is to be, where reflex-colors in shadows are wrong. See notes of this day as to: Increasing the purity and intensity of local colors, sky color according to what might be instead of what happens to be, conception and stimmung, malerische Wirkung. The angle and length of shadows indicating afternoon light it would be false to so change the yellow illumination to orange or rose-red as to indicate evening light which has longer shadows. Hence the yellow and yellow white must be adhered to and the sky, in reality a pale turquoise cannot be changed to deeper blue green, but only to pure stronger blue as it might be in purer country air. That will increase the light and color contrast. rose orange and yellow green in distance with rose white and strong red
