The Bankalachi of upper Deer creek, east of upper Kern river and draining directly into Tulare lake, are the only tribe known who are nearly related in speech to the Tübatulabal. On the streams north and south of them, as well as farther down on Deer creek, were Yokuts tribes. Bankalachi is their Yokuts name and the term they applied to themselves is not known.
