Made another diaphragm on cheesecloth with soap solution used 1 lb asbestos fiber No. 1 Everything went very smoothly. I think these isolated diaphragms will be better than those blown directly on perforated cathode. These latter did not behave well probably because they were not homogeneous nor regular. 
At lunch and after met Mrrs. McNitt. [[Brick]] and [[Shermerhorn]] of Acher Co. went to the ruins of their former works. Saw some of their old Acher cells. McNitt says they were run at 9000 A. with 6.7 volts. Could be run 1000 A. at that voltage. Cells complete

without anode and buzz bars cost erected $125 add to that $75 for anodes
The latter last about 30 days when the lower part has to be renewed. Cells do not last more that a few months but new lining of brick make them last almost indefinitely. [[underline [[Hasemcleness]] [[/underline]] bleach making machine. One section made somewhat more than one ton of bleach in 24 hours. The gas was about 2% chlorine. Gassing was finished in about 30 hours. 4 sections coupled together were driven by one motor of about 2 1/4 HP. The [[absorber]] has given them satisfaction and has worked regularly.
