[[underline]] Great excitement in opening all my tubes with Bakalite compounds.[[/underline]] Graphite [[emeric]] asbestos - [[?]] and Lithopone, Cork and lampblack seem to be the most promising compounds for the moment. 
A certain Dr. O. M. May came here with a letter of introduction from Lewkointsih and desires to find a position as Chemist. Have given him some addresses. Worked all day in laboratory. In the quiet of a pleasant evening spent an hour musing in the hammock.

and went to bed at nine. A delightful sleep. beautiful night.
July 24 Magnificent weather. I have to go to N.Y. to the D. & F Co. charge one half day.

July 25 Early at work in laboratory where I kept all day. [[underline]] I have some misgivings as to my Bakalite patent specifications [[/underline]] therefore wrote to Byrnes & Townsend on the subject.

July 26 Rain in the morning after several hot days.  Better weather afterwards. All day in Lab. Succeeded in making an [[underline]] excellent carborundum compound [[/underline]] In the evening went to Mr. Kelman's who told me about his patent for insulating electric wire by enameling. When I came home a sudden very strong and cool breeze had suddenly changed the hot weather into clean clear crisp atmosphere.
