"I mail you today a slab of wood on which I have spread some Carborundium-Bakalite paste. No attempt was made to obtain a smooth surface. Carborundum No. 2 P was used mixed with 1/3 to 1/2 of liquid Bakalite. The mixture clings tenaciously to all surfaces even to glass and the adherence to the latter is in so strong as to cause the glass to chip off in concoid fragments sooner than to detach itself from the mass. used to make grinding wheels with a wooden a metallic or a paper core and there is little danger of the composition detaching itself because Bakalite shrinks while hardening. Sharpening stones made by immersing a stick in Bakalite or Carborundum paste can be made in the same process very strong resistance.

In the evening received visit from Dr. Horne who told me that nonpaint cork costs 3 cents for labor 3 cents for material and 12 cents for binder making 18 cents per lb.
