Lancaster March 7th [1811]

Dear Rubens

Desirious that you should pay particular attention to the bearer John Tod Esq. member of the House of representative in the State of Pennsylvainia I have therefore requested him to present you this intrduction at such time as he may visit Philad.a which perhaps will not happen in a short period of time.

The City of Philadelphia is indebted to Mr. Tod for his able support of the Museum in a debate which took place on the 5th. [Instant] in the House of Representative, and it is our duty to show this Gentleman not only what may be interesting in the Museum, when he may honor it with a Visit, but also show him any intended improvements comtemplated to rend it more beneficial to the public good. In so doing it is not improbable that he may aid you with his sentiments -- If I am living it will give me pleasure to meet Mr. Tod at the Museum in which case you will notice your affectionate friend & father
