Dear Mr Hart
      I cannot fully express to you how gratified I was to get your letter - and 
glad I am always to find
existing in men the feelings which 
prompted it even tho' it was
not shown directly to myself. 
     There is of course in this case 
a considerable personal satisfaction
and indeed it was very useful 
to me. as I felt on two or three
different occasions it was as well
for me to read the letter to some
acquaintances (not friends) to whom 
an explanation of my personal
