I have my doubts whether he intended doing anything more than frighten [[strikethrough]] me [[/strikethrough]] me to pay the notes or renew them -- for he knowing that the notes were given on acc't of the museum by the manager, that the museum was liable for it, and he has no right to sue me in such case, it is similar to the claims of the Carpenter -- Gas Comp'y & Glass House &c &c all of which have been paid by the Trustees.
Mr. Holden thinks it will be well for me to see you before this trial should commence & thinks we have justice on our side to annull the suit --
I shall be happy to hear from you soon
                   mean time I remain yours
                             sincerely
                                 Rubens Peale
