My Dear [[?]]
Arrived safely yesterday at noon. The book was published on the day of my arrival. I have just sent you one by mail - postage prepaid. But I am told that if you Post Master opens it and finds my name written he will charge you something like a dollar postage. If the brute should be so inquisitive, I will refund you the money. I have sent one to Garrett in the same [[^way]] -- but hope the post man won't look in it. I have only learned this since I sent, or I would not have risked the writing. I have been a good deal at the bookstore today attending to the presentation copies etc. and am gratified to find that there are very frequent calls at the counter for the "House by the Sea". Send me copies of notices.
With kindest regards to your parents etc.
                      Yours truly
