Mr Laurman, My Dear Sir

Your favours of the [[ & 19th?]] were duly received for which and kind offers, be pleased to accept my thanks. My decision was against sending the painting, on looking at the chances for its sale, and liabilities to injury +c. but on reflection, and in consequence of the delicate state of my lungs, and by the advice of my physician to travel South and get clear of our [[underline]] East [[/underline]] winds, I have come to the conclusion to visit Baltimore and Washington. I shall forward to the first named place my large painting and a box containing two others viz The [[?...noise?]] which perhaps you noticed in the NE Art Union - and A [[underline]] Sea-Coast View in Mt. Desert Bay [[/underline]] which you may have observed at the same place--and shall avail myself of your kind offer, and direct them to your care which you will please accord to them should they arrive before. I have had the pleasure to see you and save you that trouble - You would oblige me by thinking where they could be seen. I should prefer a quiet rather than a [[glaring?]] position for it is not the number of persons, but the [[underline]] sort [[/underline]] of persons whom it is desirable to have view them - my stay in W. must be brief. If my health will permit of an early return to the north. I think you may expect to see me in all of two weeks.
I am D^r Sir very respectfully yours
Alvan Fisher
