WEDNESDAY, MAY 28 1862.

The 11th NY took a  battery, which brought on an engagement went out and saw a brick artillery fight. the cipher [[?]] of our boys[[?]] was sent to the trenches on the section[[?]] left.

THURSDAY 29

Taken very sick last night.  Infantry firing on the left and heavy guns on the right. Night action[[?]] furry and adventurous.

FRIDAY 30

In the morning heavy explosions at Corinth and great smoke, it was afterwards found that the rebels had evacuated. Pope with prisoners [[?]] scouts sent in every direction. went back to Corinth.

SATURDAY, MAY 31, 1862.

Wrote to sister; afterwards marched 7 miles in pursuit passing through Corinth.

The train went back after clothing and rations, visited a deserted rebel camp where large quantities of stores had been destroyed, rain, ---
