[[start page]] WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1862. Was awoke at 2 o'clock to issue rations morning went into town. The division marched. Evening the train followed. Marched 6 miles. Heavy firing in Crittendens division which is in advance. FRIDAY 3 Marched 10 miles very slowly and over very bad roads. Camped late at night at salt river[[?]]. Evening heavy firing in advance. [[image- drawing full frontal face worried]] [[end page]] [[start page]] SATURDAY, October 4, 1862 Rain, took all day to march 6 miles and the trains all night. crossed Salt River SUNDAY 5 Camped at 2 A.m. and [[either a tear in paper or a stick-man doodle in right margin]] starting again at 7 A.m. marched very slowly 12 miles 1 mile beyond Bardstown MONDAY 6 Marched 22 miles.
