Recd. from Emery pupa of moth found burrowing in a corn-stalk. Near it were several larvae, apparently dipterous {bred one - muscid, wings bifasciate (head pointed) & 1 pupa not conictate. Saved the pupa [bred, v. supr.] [[line]] Aug 23rd. Carpocapsa pomonella had all spun, come out & rotted before today from apples gathered off tree at Kenney early in July. Had put them in bottle half full of moist ligneous debris.
