  [[female symbol]] differs as follows: 1st. the ant. have the flag. moniliform, the [[strikethrough]] las [[/strikethrough]] jts. as broad as long, last jt. 1 1/2 times as long as broad; hairs sparse, dusky, & nearly as long as 2 jt. 3rd. abd. above is dull sanguineous, all but the sutures covered with appressed short brown pubescence; venter bright sanguineous. 2nd. Entire scutel is sometimes rufous 4 Oviduct dull yellow, never exserted beyond diam. of abd. -- Length [[female symbol]] .07 inch.

Gall [[underline]] Pruni [[/underline]] baculus. Differs from [[underline]] Pruni crumena [[/underline]] (J. I. p.203) only as follows: 1st. Always on lower side of leaf. 2nd. It about thrice as long, reaching .57 in length, 3rd. is much slenderer, being [[strikethrough]] about [[/strikethrough]] ^ [[insertion]] 6 - [[/insertion]] 10 times as long as wide, 4th. Does not exceed 35 on one leaf. -- Differs from [[underline]] Cerasi crumena [[/underline]] in not bursting open laterally.

  On one tree scarcely anything but this gall: but also occurs sparsely sometimes on leaves where [[underline]] P. crumena [[/underline]] is very abundant in 1869 [Never noticed before ^ [[insertion]] 1869. [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] ^ [[insertion]] Acari [[/insertion]] not near as abundant as in P. [[underline]] crumena. [[/underline]]

Legs 2-jd. with a single claw. A pair of anal books ^ [[insertion]] transversely arranged [[/insertion]] curving upwards & backwards, tinged with dusky at tip. ^ [[insertion]] Segments laterally hunched [[?]] [[/insertion]] Dorsal surface with a transverse slightly horny plate ^ [[insertion]] on each jt. [[/insertion]] darker than general color; on 3 thor. jts. bisected by a longitudinal line [[?]] anal prolegs. Legs 6.  Abd. joints 9 in number. Body slightly hairy.
