224 [[end page]] [[start page]] 225 June 26, 1891 Willow Spring, Antelope Valley, Kern County We left Cameron this morning and proceeded through Tehachapi Pass and across the Mojave Desert to Mojave, where we remained till after two o'clock, sending telegrams, answering mail and getting provisions. Desert plants begin to appear one by one after leaving Cameron until about two miles east of the station, the change to desert flora is complete. The altitude is too great for [[underlined]] Larrea [[/underlined]], however, and it does not appear until the mouth of the canon is reached. The following plants were seen between Cameron and Mojave. . [[underlined]] Acamptopappus sphaerocephalus [[/underlined]] . [[underlined]] Amarantus albus [[/underlined]] . [[underlined]] Argemone hispida [[/underlined]] (in Tehachapi Pass) . [[underlined]] Artemisia tridentata [[/underlined]] (1 specimen in the pass) .
