South Fork of Kern River, Tehachapi Valley and in general the interior ^ [[insertion]] plains [[/insertion]] region of California.

. [[underlined]] Pinus sabiniana [[/underlined]] and live oaks of some sort occur on the Liebre Mts, on the south side of Antelope Valley several miles eastward from Liebre Ranch.
On some of the ranches in Antelope Valley, the fence posts are made from [[underlined]] Yucca ^[[insertion]] arborescens [[/insertion]] [[/underlined]] stems and are said to serve the purpose well.  Some that were set three years ago had short green sprouts at their tops. They serve well too for corrals.
The plants seen to-day are as follows.

. [[underlined]] Artemisia tridentata [[/underlined]] (sparing toward the west end of the yuccas

. [[underlined]] " torreyi [[/underlined]] (at Willow Spring)
