I remained in camp to-day making notes and catalogueing plants.  Mr. Palmer has gone to San Francisco with Dr. Merriam.

July 16, 1891.
Paso, Kern County, Cal.
Beth and I, with McGrath, left for this point to-day.
The teamster was misdirected as to the road and shortly before noon we reached Paso Station, on the Glenville stage line.  We therefore turned down the bed of the creek for two or three miles at which point we came upon the old road along Paso Creek.  This we followed for three or four miles more after which it turned north^westward from the creek to the station Paso on the Southern Pacific R.R.  The entire distance from Paso Station to Paso is about 14 miles.  We went into camp at Paso.
