In London I was forced to wait a week for passage and spent my time at the British Museum, with the exception of a day with Mr. Eumorphopoulos over his splendid pottery, and a half day's trip to Oxford to consult with the Clarendon Press. Mrs. Warner's notes on Korean pottery, which were being published by the Clarendon Press, had been given up by them at the outbreak of the war. It is her intention, with the approval of this Committee, to submit them as a separate appendix to this report.

At the British Museum I refreshed my former impressions of the Stein collection, and had some interesting conversations with the staff on matters connected with our School, which, though hardly definite enough to be treated of in this report, should fruit when we are under way.

[[underline]] PUBLICATION SUGGESTED. [[/underline]] One matter, which was suggested by My. Binyon, should perhaps be considered by this Committee. He plans to publish at regular intervals certain works of Far Oriental art in the collections of Europe and America. I suggest that the American School should contribute from time to time to this publication illustrations, with text, of important objects in China. We could, for instance, add material of a sort which never can be seen [[strikeout]] abroad [[/strikeout]], in Europe or America if we contribute illustrations and text describing Chinese architecture and larger monuments. In this way we should find another avenue for increasing the interest in our subject, and further give evidence of our desire to be of general service.

Leaving London on September fourth by the S.S. FINLAND, I arrived at New York on September thirteenth and came at once to Boston. Since that time I have been engaged on the prepara^[[tion of this report and of the appendices which are to be submitted later.]]
