Schweitzer and accolytes there.  Wondered whether he was out for mischief.  Very much filled program everything went smooth.  Read my [[underlined]] paper on Novolak [[/underlined]] Made a little formal address.  Everything ran very smoothly.  [[underlined]] Richards [[/underlined]] was there.  went with me to University Club business matters relative Am. Electrochemical Society.  He is an earnest hard working chap of fine ideals and aspirations.  very happy in his work and I verily believe great success of A.E.C.S is due to his own personal efforts.

Had pleasant chat with him.  Left at about 12:30 AM. This closes my responsibilities as Chairm of New York Section of Am. Chem Society
We had violent rainstorm at 6 P.M  but it is still very warm.  Warm room slept very poorly.  Noisy motor cars thru street until very late at night. Awakened at 6 A.M. - not enough sleep  Telephoned home. Children came along in motor car of Oppenheimer and arrived at University Club with Miss Kent Celine & J.  Hot sultry day.  Arrived at Steamer Kroonland Red Star Line much ahead
