Bathroom but no w.c.? had to hunt all night for keys & doors that lock themselves. I certainly can have better accommodation for this price in U.S. and not to have to pay endless tips.  [[strikethrough]] Spent for [[/strikethrough]] Took supper - dutch treat with Evans Baskerville, Elliott, Bowman & Celine. I felt somewhat tired mainly by not sleeping well night before. Partly on account of violently bumping my head against top of door frame on steamer. Why do they make that door frame so low? Felt stunned for a few minutes. but I believe my skull is as hard as a

nigger's otherwise I surely would have broken it by such a violent bump. Only some swelling. Little or no sleep on account of noisy street. Motorcars - busses, cabs etc. Felt rather tired in morning.

Mr & Mrs Evans called early  [[underlined]] [[Lewhourtich?]] came here about noon, seemed ^[[insertion]] to feel [[/insertion]] very important and wanted to impress us with [[/underlined]] it. A heated discussion between himself, Toch, Dudley of V. D. Bilt University and myself. Byrnes was present. Seems to be very much under the influence of [[underlined]] Schweitzer. [[/underlined]]  Made some sneers at
