Went to bank to get money, then after lunch went to see [[underlined]] D.E. Oppenheimer [[/underlined]] & family who were at Metropole.  Poor Oppenheimer sat in night gown. but seemed cheerful and smiling.  His return home was stopped on account of sudden hemorhage three days before sailing.  Seemed glad to see me.  Were homesick for Yonkers.  Rushed back in taxicab.  Took in Celine & Elliot drove to [[underlined]] Royal Albert Hall [[/underlined]]

Formal opening of meeting.  I had seat on grand platform just [[strikethrough]] beh [[/strikethrough]] beside William Brookes.  Rain, rain, rain.  As I entered Prince of Wales and Princess of Wales entered too and I had to wait a few minutes to let procession pass.  Princess of Wale with her much artificially done up blond hair in curls reminds me somewhat of [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] of our former german cook.  She certainly does not look distinguished nor pretty, neither does Prince
