to have a days rest.  At about 4 P.M. Dover.  beautiful weather some more breeze.  Made acquaintance of Mr. W. C. Chen a Chinese student of Ann Arbor.  speaks very [[strikethrough]] well [[/strikethrough]] good english.  appears very wide awake and intelligent and with his queue cut (this is allowed not de jure but de facto since some years) looks entirely like american student except for his color and face.  Bright witty and wide awake.  Another chinese student with him.  This is young China.

Usual routine. went to bed about 9 P.M. and slept very well

twenty kisses".  to celebrate twentieth anniversary of our wedding.  What a road we have travelled since that day when our marriage seemed to both of us such a venture.  Reckless youth but filled with the desire and intention of overcoming all obstacles.  Some hard nuts to crack yet everything has ended splendidly all happy; dear old mother happy too.  Loving wife.  Spent afternoon on my index until dinner time.  quiet agreeable weather.  Went to bed at 10 after writing letter to Celine on the occasion of the day.  This letter I will remit on my arrival.
