June 6.  Sunday.  wrote more letters  Up till noon have not seen von Vulinghoff nor heard of him.  Has [[strikethrough]] Schweitzer [[/strikethrough]] he been Schweitzerized?  Took lunch with ^Dr.^ Dudley at Cafe de l'Europe.  Spoke about [[underlined]] Baskerville [[/underlined]]. [[underlined]] Dudley [[/underlined]] is a fine generous, level-headed fellow - a splendid man.  excellent example of best type of american  We spent evening listening to concert in our Hotel  Since two days have taken simpler & less expensive quarters for myself.  Instead of paying 37/6 I now pay only 8/ and like it better.

June 7.  Arranged tips paid bill and left hotel alone at 8 A.M.  Ticket 1st Class Berlin = 5£10 - or $25.00 but I shall have to pay in Brussels addition for Train de Luxe and Sleeper.  280 lb Baggage to Ghent = $7.00!
Feel tired.  Not enough sleep.  Miserable, uncomfortable badly kept little channel steamers!  notwithstanding calm weather.
Arrival Ostend.  Luxury of Stations, ^needlessly^ expensive construction and many important technical details entirely overlooked.  Hot railroad cars notwithstanding cool summer weather!  Temperature under 24⁰C
