July 18.  At 10 A.M. Carbone came with his motor car for me and [[underlined]] Sperry [[underlined]] drove us to Hecht and all together made 100 kilometer trip to Potsdam  and neighbo-

ring localities, Spandau etc. thru lovely wooded country.  Saw happy picknicking parties etc.

[[underlined]] Carbone [[/underlined]] tried his new motor tires, non pneumatic but very resilient and constructed on a new principle.  They appear to me a big success entirely as resilient as ordinary pneumatic tires.  [[underlined]] Carbone is a little dark eyed, intelligent [[/underlined]] very wide awake fellow full of energy.
