Meffert advises me I should let Hecht take out patent in his name and get it out as broadly as possible.  But german law does not allow him to assign it to me as an individual, but he can assign it to a german firm doing business in Germany  Went to Dr. Nelson to arrange power attorney for Mr. Hecht.  Charges me 8 marks and still 10 marks due for Stamps to be attached. What this army and all their bureaucrats cost!  Took train to Erckner found Weger very busy, remained there until 6:30 PM. 49  Dictated some letters  Drove to Thalia to see: "Café Noblesse" A play of so called Lustiges Berlin not very inspiring.  all these plays are about in the same class and lack the finish [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] of New York plays.  Took supper at Casino rather crowded place to night.  To bed at 11 P.M.

Excellent rest went to Erckner in morning.  Back to Berlin at 4:06, then found time to lunch.  Wrote letters then went to [[underlined]] Theater:  Demi-Monde a translation of a french play, just as stupid and uninteresting [[/underlined]]. chilly cold shivering weather in August!
