Later in the diary, he picks up Anne from the Mont Alto Sanitarium in South Mountain PA, where she works as a Nurse. The first letter of the first word is either A or N.
"Wash. Co, D.C." should read as: "Wash. 6, D.C.", where "6" is the postal zone implemented for large cities, circa 1943.
