Yesterday (Sunday) the musquitos were [[underlined]] inhumane [[/underlined]] as well as innumerable. To-day hardly one to be seen the wind being raw the air full of fog. This morning a shower of snow fell, but it melted quick as reaching the Earth. Much of it before. Capt. B. sent over a present of an American Cheese [[insertion]] & a box of Havannas [[/insertion]] to the Governor. The Governor told me that the Americans make better cheese than the Danes - 'Americans make good cheese - very good cheese'!

Tuesday, July 10th 1860.
11 o'clock P.M.
This day has been an interesting one to me on account of a visit paid by Captain Buddington & myself to Governor Elberg.
We left the "George Henry" which is anchored 1/2 mile from the [[strikethrough]] place whe [[/strikethrough]] Holsteinborg landing, in an Esquimaux Boat rowed by natives.
We arrived at the Governor's at 4 o'clock P.M. - found him [[insertion]] at home & [[/insertion]] busily engaged [[insertion]] with his Clerk [[/insertion]] in making out his annual report to the King of Denmark. He received us [[strikethrough]] warmly [[/strikethrough]] cordially. On our [[strikethrough]] particu [[/strikethrough]]expressing a desire that he should not allow us to remain to interrupt him in his engagements, he instantly responded that [[strikethrough]] even [[/strikethrough]] an engagement of great weight should certainly be put aside for the pleasure it gave him in having
