Bakelite plant is still in experimental stages Not very impressive but shows that he has started and is now awaiting better plant for starting active campaign. Drove to University of Toronto where excellent lunch was offered to me by Prof. Ellis who had invited other members of other faculties. Drove to Gutta Percha and Rubber works. rapid visit headed by [[Allard?]] a belgian, brother in law of Dr. V. d. Linde they made shoes, tires, belting, hose, floor tiles but no hard rubber. Well equipped laboratory. Drove to hotel dressed up and went to dinner of  Society of Chemical Industry at St. Charles Restaurant where I was guest of honor and speaker of the evening. About 50 members present. Lash Miller presiding My improvised subject: Opportunities of the Chemist met with much success and I felt that I made a hit.
