Bought two new tires. went to May's Bakelite paper factory with Weger then drove back. Weger took supper here. Corrected letter until 6:30 P.M. rather tired. Drove Weger to Cortlandt Station  
March 24. Dictated letters then went to N.Y went to Hookers' office. told him I would charge from now on two days per month. told me to charge three days which I do not intend to do. two days is enough just now. Took lunch with Hyatt (just recovered from pneumonia) at [[Bauncas??]]. came to see me to show that Bakelite billiard balls spot but when he tried to show me could not produce any spots probably they have [[strikethrough]] cured [[/strikethrough]] cured or dried in the air. seemed pleased this dreaded defect does not exist. At 3 P.M. meeting

board directors of Protal Co. at Williams & Peters office. William, Peters. Van [[Sinteren?]] Swan, Patterson Kent, Wiechmann & myself present. Voted my stock and $10400.00 as guarantee for my Bakelite paper contract. Swan made report of conditions at Bridgeport. I believe he will be a good man and seems more level headed than anybody else there. I found out that Wiechmann gets $1000 a month. It is very difficult for me to protest and yet I think this a very wrong beginning.- What shall I do? Tell them what I think and dissatisfy everybody? Or try to do my best to put this enterprise on a good foundation? Met Mandel on train and went home with him.
March 25. ^Friday^ Weger came here this morning with a sample of Protal valves. Told me his visit yesterday
